Our New 2019 Tour Revealed!
Living the high life in Europe

This is the time of year that Hedonistic Hikers can be found in the highest mountains of Europe. We've just spent a fabulous week in the Aosta Valley, up close and personal with Mont Blanc, and now Mick is hiking in the Austrian Tyrol and Italian Dolomites.   If you love high mountains in spring and summer then take a good look at our brand new tour for 2019: THE MOUNTAINS OF PIEDMONT.
This LEVEL 5 tour explores four stunning alpine valleys to the west of the regal city of Turin. Val Susa was an important medieval pilgrimage route and is dotted with churches and abbeys. Amongst them is the awe-inspiring Sacra di San Michele, a magnificent monastery perched high on a rocky spur with unbroken views of the valley below. Val Pellice was a haven for the hounded Valdese Protestants whilst the Po and Varaita valleys were both important trading routes into France and beyond. This tour offers superb mountain hiking and fantastic alpine flowers and wildlife, interwoven with the intriguing history of the region. We stay in two delightful family-owned hotels and enjoy the celebrated cuisine of Piedmont, which is known around the world for its excellent ingredients and world-class wines. This tour will run from June 10th - 18th.

In 2019 we will visit Piedmont twice. In June our new tour offers challenging hiking in the mountains to the west of Turin and in October we return for our classic Jewels of Piedmont tour with its gentle autumn walking.

Tintoretto in Venice
If you are passing through Venice this autumn, make a note of this rare artistic opportunity!

To celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Venetian painter Jacopo Tintoretto, one of the giants of sixteenth-century European painting, the city is hosting two exhibitions bringing together for the first time some of his most important drawings and paintings.  The exhibition runs from 7th September to 6th January.
