Two of our team have celebrated landmark birthdays this year by scaling the heights of Monviso. This is the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps in Piedmont, close to the French border, standing at 3,841 metres. They completed the task on 21st August, with a total of 14 hours of walking, climbing with crampons and finally scrambling to the summit for spectacular views and an emotional moment of elation and pride. Helped by local guide Alberto Fantone they descended on the same day, which was almost the hardest part, and rewarded themselves with wine and an excellent dinner, in true Hedonistic Hiking style. Well done to both on this awesome achievement!
In June we were joined on our Jewels of Piedmont tour by Cathy Bartrop, Travel Writer, Vlogger and Managing Director of TravelGuru.TV. Cathy has produced for us our first promotional film and we are delighted to be able to share it. We feel it truly captures our signature blend of food, wine and walking and we hope you will show it to friends and family who may be contemplating a hiking holiday next year. You can view the video from this link.
Cathy is also a contributing writer for the UK's Silver Travel Advisor website, and you can read her accompanying article below.
